I have therefore am therefore of opinion that the Fiji Pension minute should be amended in this respect,
I will address you separately in regard to the exact form which the amendment should take and in regard to other amendments, which the circumstances, in my opinion, rendered desirable.
3. In the meantime I request you to forward as soon as possible the pension papers with particulars showing how the pension for his Fiji service should be calculated.
It appears to be entitled to one-thirtieth of his salary as Judge for each year of his service in that capacity and to one-sixtieth of his salary as Attorney General for each year of his service as such, the period of his service as Attorney General bearing to the whole period of his public employment in tropical climates.
I have to inform you that the whole period is 29 years, viz., from Oct 1877 to Oct. 1907.
4. I have at the same time to request that you will send home, on the enclosed form, the particulars of Div 1 Berkeley's service as Judicial Comm. for the W Pacific, in order that his claim to pension in respect of that service also may be considered.
